OSFirstTimer Advanced was a series of videos released on the OSFirstTimer YouTube channel from January 26, 2015 to August 10, 2018.

The series focused on replacing the typical "five tasks" format of the original Mum Tries Out series with a much larger and/or complex single task, which Diana Adams must try to complete in a way that is acceptable according to the task's rules. Each episode utilizes a different program on a different operating system from a different time period. The task also differs in each episode, unlike in the original Mum Tries Out series, where the tasks never change. Some OSFirstTimer Advanced tasks were suggested by members of Philip's Patreon page, while all others were ideas from Philip himself.

In some episodes, Philip Adams, the creator of OSFirstTimer Advanced and the OSFirstTimer channel, gives Diana five lifelines called "How Do I's", where Diana can ask a clarifying question in a specific format. In other episodes, he will instead give her a time limit. If Diana would run out of either the time limit or her bank of lifelines, her task would be considered "failed".

However, in more recent episodes of OSFirstTimer Advanced, these guidelines/rules are no longer apparent. The focus, instead, becomes a more casual fulfillment of the given tasks and/or exploring/trying out programs in general, similar to the main Mum Tries Out series.

The last video in the series to include OSFirstTimer Advanced in the title is "Mum Tries To Make The TI-99/4a Speak (1981) - OSFirstTimer Advanced #12", but videos continued to use the OSFirstTimer Advanced intro up to "Mum Tries Out WinWay Resume 4.0 (1996) on Windows 98 (1998)," but after Philip discovered that the music used in the intro was copyrighted[1], he replaced both the Advanced intro as well as the original intro with a shorter intro in future videos and removed most of the intro in some of the previous Advanced videos. After this, Diana continued to complete tasks using a single software, but the videos are no longer associated with the OSFirstTimer Advanced name or series.
