Hi, I'm Michael Webb, also known as Byte of Melon (and have previously gone by TheRandomMelon and michg9 in the past).

I do various random things online such as:

  • Running multiple YouTube channels, such as my own channel, Byte of Melon and Fools in a Barrel
  • Being the chief operating officer of a startup game development studio, Daydream Studio
  • Various random web design/programming endeavors (check out my GitHub here)
  • Amateurish graphic design and video editing (see my video editing portfolio here)
  • etc

I started watching OSFirstTimer in 2013 when I was recommended the video "Mum tries out Windows ME (2000) [Prank Included]". I fell in love with the channel from there, and religiously watched every new upload for multiple years. I had then joined the OSFirstTimer Forums back in the day under the username "michg9", in which I was immature, but hey, I was about 10 years old at the time. During this time, I created a couple of "YouTube Poops", or warped edits, of OSFirstTimer videos, such as "[YTP] Philip Adams unboxes his Sexlus Rift SK2".

A few years later, I became one of the first admins of the AstralPhaser Discord server, which today is now "bits & Bytes", although I was not an admin for long. In August of 2024, myself, alongside cstro216 and TheYellowPolarBear/lainuel, were able to take over the r/OSFirstTimer subreddit due to the old moderator's account being wildly inactive. We are still the moderators of the subreddit to this day, and we enjoy moderating a small and niche but passionate subreddit.
