The OSFirstTimer Format is the format used in the basic OSFirstTimer show. With the release of the OSFirstTimer Advanced, this format isn't used and is replaced with more complex tasks that change with each episode. These tasks have to be accomplished within an operating system.

The official format goes like this:

  • What time is it?
  • Write, save, open, and delete a text document.
  • Calculate X (operator) Y.
  • Change the desktop background.
  • Explore the system on your own.
  • Shut down the OS.

Edits

This format has changed over the course of the show. Here are some of the changes:

Write, save, open, and delete a text document.

The original task was to write, save, and open a text document. However, this became the universal format for sons to have their mothers try out operating systems in similar "clone" channels. Because of these "clones", it was changed to write, save, open, and delete a text document.

Calculate X (operator) Y.

This constantly changes within OSFirstTimer. To simplify the task name, we write it as X (operator) Y. It means X +, -, *, or / Y.
